The cyber security officials of Qatar have advised all government and private organisations to enhance their existing digital security standards to foil possible cyber attacks.

'The best way to avert possible hacking in future is tightening existing cyber security mechanisms by deploying more sophisticated tools and competent IT teams in the organizations, said Captain Othman Salem Al Hammoud, Assistant Director of Information Security Department while talking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of the Ministry of Interior's press conference on QNA hacking.

He was responding to a question about the recent incident of hacking of Qatar Radio website on last Tuesday for a brief period of time. 'The solution is to upgrade cyber security mechanisms and have competent IT teams to reduce vulnerability though the chances cannot be reduced to a total zero level, he said.

Qatar Radio website was hacked at 5:30am on Tuesday and the hackers posted some fake news stories but the IT team of Qatar Radio soon restored the website and removed fake content from it.

Following hacking of Qatar News Agency website and social media accounts on May 24, Al Jazeera Media Network and Qatar TV had also faced serious cyber attacks on June 8 but they were thwarted.

People expressed satisfaction and condemned the continuity of cyber crimes and cyber attack attempts against Qatari organizations when Qatar Radio announced on its Twitter account that the control of hacked website had been regained. Bujabar Al-Qatari tweeted in reply to Qatar Radio's tweet: 'What was the source of hacking and what legal action will be taken against hackers.

Meanwhile, Iran's Arabic-language 'Al-Alam news network recently said that its Twitter account had been hacked and some fake news stories regarding Qatar were posted on it.
