(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The number of planned plots in sultanate reached 63,640 by the end of 2016, an increase of 29 per cent over 2015, when the number of planned plots stood at 49,520.
The number of granted plots was 36,811, down by 14 per cent from 2015, when the total number of granted plots was 42,837. The number of plots registered for the first time amounted to 55,140 according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The bulletin showed that the Governorate of Dakhliyah received the largest share of the planned plots in 2016 reaching 12,296 compared to other governorates. The Governorate of South Sharqiyah came in second with 11,736 plots, followed by the Governorate of Dhahirah with 10,318 plots, the Governorate of North Batinah with 9,341 plots, followed by the Governorate of Muscat with 6,004 plots.
The bulletin pointed out that GCC citizens owned 107,000 properties in 2016. Citizens of Kuwait came first (43 per cent) with 481 properties, followed by Emiratis (38 per cent) with 425 properties, Saudi nationals with 62 properties, Bahraini nationals with 84 properties followed by Qatari nationals with 55 properties. The number of families benefiting from housing assistance and the related facilities reached 115 and they were given RO2,778,879.
The number of housing loans provided by Oman Housing Bank in 2016 amounted to 642,000 worth RO70,084,900.
The number of housing loans provided by the Ministry of Defence touched 3,384 (RO45,658,629). The number of housing loans provided by Petroleum Development Oman stood at 621 (RO44,110,248).
