ICC awards Test status to Afghanistan, Ireland


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 23 June: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has granted full membership to Afghanistan and Ireland.

Decision of awarding Test cap to Ireland and Afghanistan over their good performance was taken at a meeting at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Thursday. The number of full members in the ICC has now reached 12.

The first Tests for Afghanistan and Ireland could be against each other, as early as next year, although no firm plans were in place.

Afghanistan got one-day status in 2011 after which they also took part in the 2016 World Cup.
