(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) has allocated 230 slaughterwaste collection points in various parts of the country to cater to the Eid rush. An official said that the ministry has allocated these sites for collecting slaughterwaste to avoid accumulation and rotting at dumpsites.
The sites include 81 in North Batinah, 84 in North Sharqiyah, 25 in Al Wusta and 40 in Musandam. MRMWR confirmed that it has completed the construction of new slaughterhouses to meet Eid rush and also developed an integrated plan of action for maintaining hygiene. New slaughterhouses in the wilayat of Masirah in South Sharqiyah, Sinaw in Mudhaibi in North Sharqiyah have also been set up. A new one will also be set up in Nakhal in South Batinah.
The official said that the ministry has made provisions for animal pens near slaughterhouses to ensure that cattle can be inspected for any diseases. Of the total 56 animal pens set up, 28 are sheep pens, 18 cowsheds and ten for camels in Buraimi. The ministry will also broadcast awareness programmes through print, visual and social media platforms and urge people to slaughter animals only in the municipal abattoirs and dispose waste only in allocated sites.
