(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Now positioned to lead one of the sultanate's most celebrated non-profit groups, Suresh Kumar has been appointed president of Knowledge Oman (KO).

Highlighted for selection with 30 years of experience in finance and operations, in addition to being an alumni of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – Sloan School of Management, Kumar is now leading a strategic review of the organisation. Dedicated to serving the nation by investing in human capital as the most critical economic resource, KO creates and supports short and long-term initiatives that boost national performance to enhance the capability of people living in Oman. The organisation takes a grassroots approach to boosting the competitiveness of the national economy and supporting the establishment of Oman as a knowledge-based society.

Kumar said, 'Over the last nine years the organisation has achieved with distinction in its facilitation of online and off-line knowledge transfer platforms. KO's robust commitment to learning and improvement ensured sterling achievements, which attracted recognition both locally and internationally from the year of its inception. We have redirected our focus in the first half of 2017, focussing upon internal review and enhancement across each facet of the organisation. Our transformation is intended to empower KO to achieve even greater sustainable impact in local communities.'

Following the two-year presidency of Rym Aoudia, Kumar is the second appointed to serve a presidential term at Knowledge Oman. Founded by chairman Tariq Hilal al Barwani in 2008, the organisation's criteria for consideration in its leadership remains talent centric.

Barwani said, 'The quality of our output and the impact of our activities depends entirely on the individual ability of our leaders and their collaboration; thus, in service to all peoples living in Oman, we position the most competent candidates irrespective of nationality, culture, or profession. With Suresh and Balqees onboard along with the team and countless new opportunities before us, our talented volunteers are working hard to deliver nothing short of real innovation.'

Knowledge Oman currently has over 25 volunteers and a broad range of partners that range from national institutes of education to successful businesses and global conglomerates. The organisation is set to announce its latest project in the near future, which will be delivered in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah.
