(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) will hold a meeting on Monday with private and government stakeholders in Dhofar to assess the preparations for the three-month khareef season which begins on June 21.

Akram bin Hassan al Mazraa, director general at the Directorate General for Commerce and Industry in Dhofar, said, 'This meeting is to discuss the readiness of various government and private entities to ensure that there is a regular supply of materials, goods and services throughout the season.'

During the meeting with officials from the private and government sectors, the importance of providing facilities and services by the authorities throughout the season will be reviewed.
'They have to ensure that foodstuffs reach all malls and markets like the way it was done last year.

'Additionally, the officials will be asked to monitor the market to ensure that prices are not inflated during the season. There will also be various promotional offers at commercial establishments.'

In addition, organising activities, events and exhibitions in malls will be discussed at
the meeting to attract more tourists.

'As 70 per cent of visitors use their own vehicles, the meeting will discuss the provision of providing additional fuel in oil stations in all governorates to meet demand during the season.'

Mazraa said that the meeting will also discuss the importance of cleanliness at facilities like fuel stations and restaurants.

'All ATMs at commercial locations and shops will be examined to make sure that they are in working condition. The fuel station owners will have to coordinate with the authorities for additional tankers to be stationed at Haima and Muqshin as backup,' Mazraa said.
