(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia is banning imports of Egyptian strawberries because of pesticide remains, as proclaimed the head of Egypt's Agriculture Export Council.
Accordingly, Egypt will not face huge losses due to the ban as the exporting season for strawberries ended on April 10 this year.
Las year, exports of Egyptian vegetables, fruits and legumes reached USD2.2bn, while the main fruit exports involve oranges and strawberries.
Meanwhile, exports could also help bring needed foreign currency that has been low in supply as a result of the 2011 Arab Spring uprising that drove away tourists and investors.
