Morocco- 18 Moroccan Olympic Medalists Honored by Mohammed VI Foundation of Sports Champions

Rabat – The Mohammed VI Foundation of Sports Champions Morocco has paid tribute to all 18 Moroccan Summer Olympics medalists during the Foundation's 2017 general assembly held in Rabat on Monday.

The 18 Olympic medalists were welcomed for their achievements as gold medal winners. During this ceremony, the foundation also paid tribute to the champions Fatima Elfaquir and Malika Hadki, who were the first Moroccan women to participate in the Olympic Games, in Munich in 1972.

Last year, a tribute was paid to the national football team champion of Africa in 1976

The ceremony was marked by the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rachid Talbi Alami, as well as several presidents of sports federations and member champions of the foundation. The event was kicked off with the exhibition of the foundation's achievements since its creation in August 2011.

After the general assembly, the foundation hosted an iftar in honor of its guests and members, who have reached a number of 644 champions from 25 sports disciplines.

The Mohammed VI Foundation of Sports Champions, chaired by Moncef Belkhayat, works to help former Moroccan sports champions who find themselves in a difficult social situations.

Among the many actions of the foundation are the 1,822 health coverage with a total of 4,244 cases treated, 139 cases of direct social aids, 13 trainings for sports management (BAES Athletics level I and II), 2 publications on the history of national sport, 3 delegations to the pilgrimage (the fourth is under preparation), 67 aids (total or partial) to schooling for members of the foundation and their children (including 14 in the university cycle), 54 rent aids, 10 monthly food aids and 25 direct medical care recipients.
