(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The follow-up committee for the implementation of the Convention on Elimination of Discrimination Against Woman (CEDAW) held its first meeting of the year on Monday. It was held under the chair of H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Said bin Saif al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development.
The meeting discussed implementation of CEDAW and reviewed progress made in implementing the recommendations of the third meeting in 2016. It included following-up on temporary measures, such as quota in ensuring representation of women in elected councils, and media coverage for Better World book.
The meeting also discussed activating the role of Omani women's associations and supporting their nominations to elected councils.
