(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – From the Mawazine Festival's many stages to free street performances, day eight of this year's event was a musical feast for every palette.
Headlining the night of performances was music star, Demi Lovato, a name synonymous with the current popular music scene. The OLM stage saw Lovato perform a string of hits including From Here To Go Again, Unbroken and Confidant. Lovato dazzled the audience with a spectacular show.
On the Nahda stage, Moroccan singer Asma Lamnawar appeared with the Cairo Opera. Performances included duets with Kadem Al Saher and Hatim Ammour. She was also joined on stage by singer-turned-actor, Marouane Khoury.
Former frontman for the Mazagan band, Ribab Fashion, Issam Kamal wowed the Sale stage, which also saw an unforgettable performance from Farid Ghannam. The evening was a delightful merging of traditional Amazigh styles and songs with village music.
Festival goers to the Bouregreg stage were treated to a West Indies-inspired performance from legendary Calypso Rose. An iconic presence in music since the 1970's, and a voice of velvet gold, her performance proved she has earned the titled of %E2%80%9CQueen of Calypso.%E2%80%9D
Rafael Amargo ConcertThe Mohammed V National Theatre played host to a special performance from choreographer, Jose Porcel's Spanish/flamenco dance troupe. Porcel began his dance career at the age of thirteen, dancing to Andalusian folklore music and continued his training with a who's-who of dance including the likes of Martin Vargas, Paco Romero, Isabel Quintero, Pedro Azorin and Jose Granero. For the audience, it was an unforgettable night of dance.
SaodajIn a blend of modern artistry and traditional Maloya, Saodaj took to the Chellah stage Thursday night in a celebration of the Pacific Ocean and Reunion Island. Aided by their charismatic singer, Marie Lanfroy, and citing southern, Australian and European influences, the group remained faithful to its roots while being refreshingly current and mature.
In addition to the paid performances occurring on Mawazine's primary stages, day eight saw the streets of Rabat and Sale come alive with colourfull performances by street bands and performers including Les Tambours du Maroc and Casa fiesta.
