Jordan- Trump calls for unity in fight against radicalism in Saudi Arabia address


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington, May 20 (Petra) -- US President Donald Trump will use his first visit to the Middle East to call for unity in the fight against radicalism in the Muslim world, casting the challenge as a 'battle between good and evil', according to a draft of the speech obtained by the Associated Press.

'We are not here to lecture to tell other peoples how to live, what to do or who to be. We are here instead to offer partnership in building a better future for us all,' the document said.

Trump left Washington Friday afternoon for Riyadh, the first stop on his maiden trip overseas trip as president.

Trump will attend three high-profile summits during his stay in Riyadh, including a Gulf Cooperation Council -US Summit and an Arab-Islamic-US Summit on Sunday.

During the Arab Islamic- American Summit in Riyadh Trump will meet with 55 leaders and representatives from across the Islamic world, as well as several business activities, cultural, intellectual and sports celebrations.

In the summit, trump will speak about his 'hopes of a peaceful vision of Islam', in what aides said will be a speech the president hopes will resonate worldwide and express a common vision of peace, progress and prosperity .
