Indian Prime Minister Meets Palestinian President


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) New Delhi, May 16 (QNA) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tuesday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and discussed the latest developments in Palestine, especially the prisoners' hunger strike in Israeli jails, which entered its 30th consecutive day.

The two sides also discussed economic relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in the framework of promoting and developing bilateral relations, especially in the field of religious tourism to Palestine, as well as the importance of combating terrorism and ways of working together to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

On the other hand, the Palestinian President briefed the Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the latest developments of the Palestinian issue and efforts to push forward the political process, in addition to the conditions of the Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike for the 30th consecutive day.

During the meeting, Abbas briefed the Indian minister about the Israeli violations of Palestinian land and the Islamic holy sites, as well as the settlement encroachment that plundered the Palestinian land, which have become a real threat to the two-state solution.

They also discussed bilateral relations between India and Palestine and means of developing them in various fields. (QNA)
