Tunisian exports of fresh vegetables fall by 25pct

(MENAFN) Tunisian exports of fresh vegetables dropped to 25 percent amid 2016-2017 season compared with the last season 2015-2016, while revenues grew by 13 percent to reach 75MD against 66MD.

However, the drop is due to the fall in exports in the Libyan market because of security conditions in Libya, as proclaimed the Ministry of Agriculture.

The country's exports its fresh vegetables to 20 nations in the world, while Europe holds 69 percent of these exports compared to 14 percent for the African market.

Accordingly, for onions, Tunisia exported 1851 tons this season compared to only 247 tons in the last season, whereas fennel exports grew by 10 tons in the 2015-2016 seasons by 336 tons this season.
