Morocco- PAM Accuses Head of Government of 'Misinformation'

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) accused head of government Saad Eddine Othmani of spreading misinformation on Monday.

The party, a member of the opposition, issued a statement claiming that Othmani had begged for the PAM's help to get both the Government Program and the 2017 Finance Bill in parliament at a meeting with its leader Ilyas El Omari on April 20, contrary to the claims of Othmani's Justice and Development Party (PJD).

A member of the PJD had earlier posted on Facebook denying that the head of government asked for help from the PAM.

The PAM said the head of government should have responded himself instead of delegating the task to another member of his party.

'The head of government should have issued an official statement to enlighten the public instead of having recourse to proxy services,' said the PAM's communiqué.

Later on, the Government Presidency issued a communiqué refuting that Othmani had asked opposition parties to vote for either the program or the bill in his meetings with leaders of both parties of the coalition government and the opposition on April 19 and 20.

'The Head of Government's invitation to parties of the opposition to meet up with him are part of his strategy to constantly communicate with both the majority and the opposition in total respect of their constitutional roles and political responsibilities,' said the statement.
