MoT building facilities as part of Grand Tour of Oman project

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is in the process of implementing the Grand Tour of Oman plan to allow travellers to visit the entire stretch of the country from Musandam Peninsula to Dhofar with ease.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Helal al Hinai, DG of Planning and also advisor of Green Tourism in MoT said, 'We are in the process of implementing this plan whereby tourists can visit the entire stretch of the country from the north to the south without any difficulty.'

To make the project a success, the ministry is coming up with facilities at different locations. 'So, we will be having hotels at different points from the north to the south. Tourists can come and explore the whole of Oman without any difficulty. These hotels will be connected through different means of transport.'

He said that the ministry is implementing several strategies to boost tourism in the country. 'We have now 19,000 hotel rooms available. By 2040, we are aiming at 80,000. There are several proposals from investors - local and foreign - to invest in Oman,' Hinai said.

'We have mountains, beaches, deserts and the wildlife. In a nutshell, we have a landscape from desert plains and beaches to the high mountains and mighty fjords. We have had a good surge in tourists visiting Oman. We have projected Oman as a wedding destination, a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) destination and for sports and adventure activities too. Now, we want visitors to come and experience Oman.'
