Morocco- Drunken Ferrari Driver Accident: One Fatality, Five People Arrested

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) has announced that after the Ferrari of Hamza Darham's now infamous collision with three cars, the crash resulted in the death of an individual who had been inside one of the vehicles.

Darham, the young Moroccan man whose video of himself driving drunk and mocking police after crashing his car, caused an uproar on Moroccan social media. He has since been placed into custody while under medical surveillance. Officials are waiting for his health situation to stabilize so police can resume their investigation, according to the DGSN.

Darham's driving license has been seized and his car referred to the junk yard, according to the source.

The police have reportedly arrested five people so far in the case including Darham's brother, a friend and two members of the police, accused of falsifying the accident report. They have been referred to the Public Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of Appeal after being placed in custody at the headquarters of the State Department of the Judicial Police in Rabat. Currently, they are reportedly being held at the Salé prison.

Investigations have revealed that the suspects colluded to alter the report documenting the road accident. According to information released by the DGSN, the officers changed the direction Darham was driving in his Ferrari and failed to record that Darham had been under the influence of alcohol.

The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) announced Wednesday that 'it was decided on Wednesday morning to place two police officers in custody as part of the investigation conducted by the Prefectural police department of Rabat following an accident involving injuries.'

The first officer was responsible for managing safety measures in the vicinity immediately following the accident, according to the DGSN. The second was an inspector managing the traffic and was responsible for filing the accident report.

The DGSN added that the investigation will include all parties involved in the incident. Security elements have also started procedures for their own inspection.
