Oman- Muscat Municipality decision on new fines comes into effect from Tuesday


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Muscat Municipality's decision to impose new fines and increase penalties for some existing offences related to health, safety and environment will come into effect fromTuesday.

The municipality had issued decision no 55/2017 regarding determining penalties in reference to the Muscat Municipality Law issued by the Royal Decree 38/2015, in addition to local order 32/97 on the protection of its facilities; local order number 1/2001 on organising markets in the Governorate of Muscat; local order 1/2006 on public health protection, and the regulations on health requirements for activities related to the public health issued by administrative decision no 168/2011 in public interest.

The penalties have been determined for violating local order numbers 32/97, 1/2001, 1/2006 and administrative decision no 168/2011. The municipality has said that if the imposed penalties are not paid or the matter not resolved, an administrative fine of RO50 will have to be paid every day for a period of 60 days. 'If the violations continue, the permit will be cancelled and the holder will not be issued another one for a period of six months from the date of cancellation.'
