Malaysia timber exports to rise 5% this year


(MENAFN) Malaysian Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister said that the nation's export of timber is estimated to boost by 5% during 2017.

The official also added the export value of sawn timber, plywood as well as medium density fibreboard toward India has posted a raise of more than 25 % in 2016 compared with a year earlier.

On the other hand, he stated the timber industry is considered a main contributor to the country's export earnings.

Never the less, timber and timber goods have accounted for 17.92 % of the overall export earnings by the commodities sector in 2016.
