Kuwait wins eight medals at Tunisia's int'l para athletics competition

TUNIS, April 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti disabled and deaf athletes continued their splendid performance at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Tunis City, winning eight more medals.
The Kuwaiti disabled team won the gold medal of the 400 meters relay race.
Three Kuwaiti athletes swept the discus throwing competition as athlete Nayef Al-Shemmeri snatched the gold medal, his brother Nawaf won the silver medal and compatriot Abdulaziz Al-Nashmi won the bronze medal.
Moreover, Kuwaiti athlete Faisal Al Rajhi begged the gold medal in the 200 meters race and the silver medal of the 400 meters race.
Furthermore, Kuwaiti athletes Yusuf Al-Harbi and Mohammad Al-Enezi won the bronze medals of the 400 meters race and 200 meters (T54) race respectively.
Coach of Kuwaiti disabled and deaf athletic team Farahat Belkhair commended the outstanding performance of the Kuwaiti athletes at the event.
In a statement to KUNA, he noted that Faisal Al Rajhi has been qualified to the 200 meters race in the World Para Athletics Championships in London next July.
The three-day event kicked off Thursday with the participation of nearly 300 male and female athletes from 19 countries. Some 12 Kuwaiti athletes are taking part in the competition. (end) ksj.ibi
