Suwaiq stays at Group C bottom
Al Suwaiq, the other Omani club in action in the AFC Cup, lost 1-2 to another Jordanian club, Al Ahli, in a Group A match in Amman, Jordan on Tuesday.
Ahmed al Essawi scored 14 minutes from time as Al Ahli came back from a goal down to hand Suwaiq a defeat.
Yaseen al Sheyadi had given Suwaiq the lead in the 55th minute with a scruffy tap-in from close range, but Elhadji Malick Tall's goal seven minutes later set Essawi up to claim the winner in the 76th minute when he headed into the top corner.
The victory moves Al Ahli onto five points from four games, while Al Suwaiq remains on two points and rooted to the bottom of the standings.
In another Group A game played in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday, Mohanad Abdulraheem bagged a brace as Al Zawraa of Iraq claimed a 2-0 victory over Syria's Al Jaish at Al Khor SC Stadium to move atop the group table.
The result saw the Iraqi side move into pole position in Group A, two points ahead of its Syrian opponent and three in front of Al Ahli after the conclusion of four matches.
