Lights turned off in 10th Earth Hour in 2017

(MENAFN) On Saturday, the lights had been turned off around the world at 8:30 pm, to mark the 10th annual Earth Hour and to draw attention to climate change.

In 2007, the idea started applying in Australia as a grass roots gesture by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Australia against man-made carbon dioxide emissions linked to a warming planet.

This year, it involved the switching off electric lights for an hour in 7,000 cities across the 172 countries around the world.

Also, famous buildings had taken part in Australia are Sydney's Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Luna Park, Town Hall, and Sydney Tower Eye.
