(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Mwasalat launched its new bus route, Ma'abela-Industrial Ma'bela, on Friday. This is part of the company's commitment to expand its scope of services and routes in Muscat.
The company is running the trips on the new route (to and from) at a rate of one bus every 20 minutes from 6am-9.20pm (Sunday-Thursday), and from 6.40am-9.20pm (Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays), stated a press release.
The new route is as follows: (Ma'abela Bus Station–Joud Roundabout-Ma'abela Zone 1–Khair Roundabout–Khair Street–Al Salam Street–Industrial Ma'abela Roundabout-Industrial Area (2, 4, 5, 6, 8)-Baraka District (1, 2, 3).
The return trip takes the following route: (Khair Street–Khair Roundabout–Ma'abela Zone (1, 2)-Joud Roundabout-Ma'abela Bus Station).
It is expected that this route will witness more people using Mwasalat service since it passes through one of the most important areas in the governorate, namely, Ma'abela Industrial Area. The fare for a single trip is 200bz. Mwasalat endeavours to provide a safe means of transportation equipped with the best standards of safety and comfort, added the release.
As part of its campaign to disseminate awareness amongst various segments of society about the importance of public transport, the company supported a number of events in the sultanate, including the Muscat International Book Fair 2017 by providing free transportation to its visitors.
It also provided a special service for Muscat Festival 2017 visitors during the period between January 19 and February 13 where it carried about 14,000 visitors to Amerat Park and Naseem Gardens.
Mwasalat recently launched a new brand identity for its taxi service which will start operating by the end of this year in the Governorate of Muscat only as per the licence granted to the company by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The project will serve the citizens currently operating taxis, the release added.
The company urges everyone, especially the citizens to use public transport because of its economic, social and environmental importance to individual and society, and for its importance in reducing traffic jams, and the expansion of the sultanate's economy and its progress.
