(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Government of India has revised visa fees to attract more visitors including Omanis fromApril 1. In order to increase the number of medical tourists to India, the government has decided to reduce the medical visa fee fromApril 1. 'Medical visa applicants will now have to pay RO30.9 for visas valid up to six months and RO46.3 for visas valid up to one year,'
There has been a growing interest amongst the people of Oman for travelling to India for tourism, business, leisure and medical treatment as the embassy issued over 95,000 visas in 2016. It has already issued over 20,000 visas in the first two months of 2017.
The embassy has taken steps to boost medical tourism to India including the fast processing of applications and opening of a separate counter at the BLS Visa Application Centre. The decision to reduce the medical visa fee as compared to the tourist visa fee will greatly benefit patients and their attendants. 'All Omanis who want to visit India to avail world class treatment at competitive costs are requested to travel to India on medical visas only and not on tourism or any other visa,' the embassy said.
The Indian government is committed to facilitate visits of businesspersons from across the world. As part of this move, it has been decided to issue business visas valid up to one year at RO46.3. 'Businesspersons, with strong and long-standing relations with India, who are required to travel at a short notice, will be offered visas valid up to five years at RO96.3. Further, the government has revised the tourist visa fee to RO38.6 for visas valid up to one year and RO77.1 for visas valid up to five years.
'Entry visa fee for people going for training or other purposes will be RO30.9 which will be valid up to six months while RO46.3 will be the fee for visas valid from six months to one year. Further, a fee of RO77.1 will be charged for entry visas for duration ranging from one year to five years.'
All the revised visa fees will be charged fromApril 1and do not include the contribution of RO1 to the Indian Community Welfare Fund and processing charges of RO1.650 levied by BLS.
