Qatar- Pleaseletmewin wins Umm Al Afai Cup


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The trio of leading owner, champion trainer and champion jockey got together to snap up the feature on Thursday. Trained by Jassim Mohamed Ghazali, who otherwise had a quiet evening, Pleaseletmewin registered his first victory in Qatar by winning the Umm Al Afai Cup yesterday.
Harry Bentley, riding in the colours of Khalifa Bin Sheail al-Kuwari, guided the 3yo to a half a length win on his third attempt at the QREC. Tomas Lukasek was at the helm of second-placed Incandescent, trained by Hadi al-Ramzani. Alberto Sanna picked up his sixth top three finish of the day, riding Ibrahim al-Malki saddled What A Surprise to third spot.

Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (3yo only)
Alberto Sanna registered a win for the third time on the day with Hadi al-Ramzani schooled Al Lusail shedding his maiden status on debut. The Al Jeryan Stud owned colt won the 1100m sprint comfortably, with Sultan al-Jaber trained duo Deen and Sandaan making it to the frame with Marco Monteriso riding the Ahmed Sultan al-Jabir owned filly Deen to runner up spot while the colt made it to the third place under Marvin Suerland.

Purebred Arabian Handicap (80 & below)
Kelly Harrison registered her second victory after making a return to racing in January this year guiding Ahmed Kobeissi saddled Qaa'ed to the 7yo's third win overall. Harrison had come out of retirement after four years and won on her Qatar debut in January. On Thursday, she had Qaa'ed for company and the duo did well to go past the post one and a half length ahead of Umm Qarn colt Al Sahra.
Marco Monteriso rode the Alban de Mieulle charge to runner up place ahead of Zuhair Mohsen's Khattab, who completed a podium lockout for prolific sire Amer under Stephan Ladjadj's ride.

Purebred Arabian Graduation Plate (4yo only)
Sheail Bin Khalifa al-Kuwari owned Brama De Pompadour won the high quality mile long run for trainer Mohammed Jassim Ghazali on Thursday.
The 4yo had last run in HH The Emir's Silver Sword a month ago and had finished a credible fourth under Olivier Peslier.
On Thursday, Pierantonio Convertino did well to have his mount go past the post first, half a length ahead of Alban de Mieulle saddled Umm
Qarn owned filly Samaa, helmed by Jean Baptiste Hamel, while Alberto Sanna notched his fourth straight top three finish guiding Mohamed Hussain trained Tahri Baha to the
podium.

Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (CLASS 6)
Having come close on five previous occasions, finishing in the top three each time, Ibrahim al-Malki saddled Moueenn registered his first career win.
The Rumailah Stud owned gelding, who first raced in Qatar in January and finished third on debut, finished a little more than a length ahead of Stefano Ibido's Dubai Crown in the 1850m race on Thursday, while Salem al-Hajri saddled Al Hazam completed the top three with a ride from Xavier Ziani.

Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate
Salman Bu Thaila had shown his quality when falling just short of victory behind Asaaf in the Qatar Derby. On Thursday, a confident ride by Alberto Sanna saw the Stefano Ibido's charge shine with a three length victory in the mile long run. Abdulhadi Mana Al Hajri owned 4yo colt registered his first career win, finishing ahead of Yousef Bentaher's ward Montaser, ridden by Gerald Avranche, while Tariq Issa saddled Musaiter Bu Thaila was third under Yousef al-Hajri.

Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate
Mohamed al-Ramzani schooled MJ Lattam went one better than his last run, shedding his maiden status in the opener of the seven race card. Ridden by Alberto Sanna, the Mohanned Jassim al-Yaqoot owned colt was in supreme form to finish five lengths ahead of the competition with Mubarak al-Khayarin's Udai Al Wajba second under Harry Bentley's ride. Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim guided Hamad al-Jehani trained Al Jooker to a third place finish.
