ABU DHABI, 19th March, 2017 (WAM) -- Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, has stressed that the reading initiatives launched by the UAE, with the aim to make human development a main priority, reflect the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Al Mansouri recommended three books for UAE and Arab readers to add to their knowledge.

The first book, "Why and How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action" by Simon Sinek, presents a clear vision of leadership methods and establishing successful organisations by motivating people to accomplish achievements through benefiting from several leading global experiences.

The second book, "Economics in One Lesson" by Henry Hazlitt, was described by Al Mansouri as the comprehensive manual of modern economic theories and fundamental principles of free market economics.

While the third book, "The Complete History" by Ibn Al Athir, was described by Al Mansouri as a great encyclopaedia that includes historic knowledge, covering the history of the Islamic world until the 7th Hijri century.

Al Mansouri made the remarks while taking part in Emirates News Agency (WAM) initiatives for the Month of Reading, during which WAM publishes titles of important books, as recommended by the country's ministers and senior officials.

He added that reading develops general culture and intellectual skills, and increases levels of creativity, innovation and excellence, while contributing to building an intellectual and skilled generation capable of leading the nation and unlocking the future.

Al Mansouri highlighted the desire of the Ministry of Economy to contribute to implementing the national initiatives of the Month of Reading.

He added that the ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, under the theme "Reading is a Catalyst for Exploring the Future of UAE's Economy", which aims to promote co-operation between the ministry and the foundation in leading initiatives to enrich the cultural environment, such as launching the nation's first specialised economics library.
