Our Team
We are freshmen at Babson College with an idea and the determination to pursue it.
Will Battel is from Edina, Minnesota. His passions include technology, entrepreneurship, and stock trading. Will is responsible for guiding the app through development and preparing the business for operations in April.
Ben Ventura is from Newburyport, Massachussetts. He loves sports, business, and is now experimenting with photography. In addition to accounting, Ben is tasked with ensuring our users are satisfied with the app.
Youcef Ziad was born in Algeria and grew up in Holbrook, Massachusetts. He also loves sports as well as art and Mexican food. Youcef is in charge of marketing and is working tirelessly to ensure a successful launch.
The App
Introduction
The next big thing in social media is here. Introducing Beacon, the app that's changing the way we interact with the people around us. Start by activating your very own beacon to see your nearby friends. Want to check another location? Drag and drop additional beacons onto the map and see who's there. When you're on the move, you can enable notifications that help you connect with friends near you when you otherwise would have missed them.
Inspiration
Our original inspiration for this app was to create a platform that would notify the user when they were near their friends in public. This would solve the problem of missing your friends at big venues such as concerts, festivals, or parades because you were not aware of their presence. We often go to these events and don't realize that other people we know were there until afterwards. Starting only from this small idea, our app has grown into much more than we originally intended.
