Algeria to begin work on USD3.3bn deepwater project


(MENAFN) Work on El Hamdania port will start in Algeria following the government approval for the new USD3.3bn deepwater port project located near to the town of Cherchell.

Moreover, the project, which envisages a task for an overseas partner, will be executed in two stages, while it will boast a handling capacity of 6.3mn TEUs.

In addition, the port will see the building of more than 23 berths, thus bestowing the port a joined capacity of 25.7 million tons per annum.

Meanwhile, S. Korea-based Yuhill-Yooshin and Algeria's Laboratoire des etudes maritimes finished a plan and the project has now secured USD900mn worth of funding.
