TUNIS, March 12 (KUNA) -- A Kuwait-financed center for vocational education and training was opened on Sunday in the central Tunisian city of Gafsa.
The center, built by Kuwaiti donations totaled USD one million, comprises several teaching buildings, a clinic and a mosque.
This is an important project that would provide youth in the local community with high-quality education and training in several specialties such as farming and electrical training, Kuwait Ambassador to Tunisia Ali Al-Thufairi told KUNA and Kuwait TV on the sidelines of the opening ceremony.
Al-Thufairi thanked the Kuwaiti donors, mainly the committee of late Abdullah Abdulatif Al-Othman guardians, Zakat House and Rahama International.
He wished the establishment of more centers to qualify a considerable number of Tunisian youth to meet the requirements of labour market.
These are development centers which are meant to reduce unemployment rates especially among youth, he said.
For her part, Tunisian lawmaker Zainab Brahmi said that the Al-Othman center for vocational education and training is an integrated project that was greatly needed in Gafsa governorate.
She noted that this kind of centers also help fosters the skills of youth and qualify them to launch their own businesses.
She expressed gratitude for the Kuwaiti donors and hoped there would be more of such projects in other Tunisian cities.
She also lauded Kuwait's humanitarian role and the strong relations between the two Arab countries. (end) kj.ibi
