(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Feb. 27 (Petra) -- Jordanian and Iraqi officials on Monday opened a discussion on prospects for exempting certain Iraq-bound Jordanian exports from custom duties and agreed to set relevant criteria for that purpose.
In a meeting held in Amman today, officials from both countries agreed to remove impediments hindering the two-way trade exchange. The Jordanian officials handed the Iraqi side a list of commodities the Kingdom wants to be exempted from customs fees.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Shamali, said in a statement that the meeting came as a follow-up on the outcome of a visit Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki paid to Baghdad last month to broaden economic engagement between the two countries.
They emphasized the importance of establishing joint partnerships in Iraq and benefiting from privatization projects in Iraq.
